Weekly or monthly classes can be tailored to suit the company and students – from power yoga to relaxation/meditation. Most companies want a mix of the two, with challenging flowing sequences (you'll get a sweat on!) including neck and shoulder stretches to release muscular tension built up from sitting at a desk and talked through relaxation to end the session.
Classes are normally before work, at lunchtime or after work.
Would you like to try yoga but don't want to jump straight into a group class due to lack of fitness or old injuries?
I can teach one-on-one sessions in your office, going at your pace. These sessions include assessment of any postural imbalances; the sequence will be customised for you based on these results.
Are you looking to organise something special as part of your end-of-year wind down? A relaxing restorative yoga class will stretch out the kinks and end your year on a high note.
Yoga sessions are also a great option as part of a team-building exercise (partner yoga) or a relaxing social event at the end of a conference or before a long weekend.
Selina is a certified PLAY kids yoga teacher and has experience teaching both kids (3–12 years old) and teenagers.
Kids: Classes tend to be less about stretching, and more about gaining self-awareness and confidence and trying new things, all while having fun. For younger kids, we learn to relax and concentrate via games and stories. Classes are short (30–45 minutes, depending on age) and playful.
Teenagers: The first few classes tend to be full of giggling and looking at each other for approval, but within a few sessions, their focus improves, they become less self-conscious and they stop looking at each other to check if things are 'OK'. Classes focus on improving self-confidence and awareness and breaking out of their comfort zone, along with improving posture and strengthening their core and upper body.
Classes can be private or at preschool or school.
Concession prices are offered for kids/teens – please contact Selina for more information.
Yoga has been shown to boost athletic performance and can help to alleviate pain from sports injuries, as well as help to prevent future injuries. It can also increase flexibility, balance, and energy levels, while improving concentration and decreasing the levels of stress hormones.
Classes are planned around a sequence specific for your sport. For example, a class for cyclists would focus on core strength and stability, along with stretching the areas that are typically tight for cyclists, such as neck/shoulders and hip flexors.
Sunday: Vinyasa I class - 4pm-5.15pm @ Yoga Sanctuary (1 Montrose Terrace, Mairangi Bay)
